A Traditional Mindset

Liberalism has clearly entered the Church, and has changed the thinking of Catholics.  Consider, for example, the following propositions to see if they sound Catholic or not:

Every man is free to embrace and profess that religion which, guided by the light of reason, he shall consider true.

Man may, in the observance of any religion whatever, find the way of eternal salvation, and arrive at eternal salvation.

In the present day it is no longer expedient that the Catholic religion should be held as the only religion of the State, to the exclusion of all other forms of worship.

Hence it has been wisely decided by law, in some Catholic countries, that persons coming to reside therein shall enjoy the public exercise of their own peculiar worship.

The Roman Pontiff can, and ought to, reconcile himself, and come to terms with progress, liberalism and modern civilization.

Each of the above propositions was condemned by Ven. Pope Pius IX in his Syllabus of Errors.  This was the thinking of the Church until Vatican II.  As we restore the Mass, should we not also restore the traditional mindset?

I'm afraid to ask, but curious...where did the writing in italics come from?

Fidelis :

Sounds good to me, Cyprian, but it’s going to take some doing. I think more people saw the need for the return of the Mass than those like yourself who believe that it’s important to return to sound doctrine. But maybe I’m wrong; if so the concern isn’t forthcoming—at least from the readers of this blog. Maybe things haven't gotten bad enough yet to get a consideral counter reaction.

Allison, a good translation of the Syllabus can be found at http://www.dailycatholic.org/syllabus.htm.

Thanks Fidelis. We'll see how things go. It seems clear that the Mass, however beautiful and salvific, was not sufficient to hold off the Modernist revolution in the 60's. I wonder how long it will take to restore traditional doctrine, especially the Syllabus of Ven. Pius IX? Maybe my kids will see it?
