Saint Of The Day

Pope St. Pius X on Tradition

(The following quote from the encyclical Pascendi Dominici Gregis underscores the importance of Tradition, noting the Modernists' hatred of it.  As the Modernists assumed the high ground at Vatican II,* it is essential now to restore Tradition before their pestilential errors and novelties can be purged from the Church. Hence, a return to the Traditional Mass is more than just gratifying, it is imperative.)

42. ... They [the Modernists] exercise all their ingenuity in an effort to weaken the force and falsify the character of tradition, so as to rob it of all its weight and authority.

But for Catholics nothing will remove the authority of the second Council of Nicea, where it condemns those "who dare, after the impious fashion of heretics, to deride the ecclesiastical traditions, to invent novelties of some kind...or endeavor by malice or craft to overthrow any one of the legitimate traditions of the Catholic Church"; nor that of the declaration of the fourth Council of Constantinople: "We therefore profess to preserve and guard the rules bequeathed to the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, by the Holy and most illustrious Apostles, by the orthodox Councils, both general and local, and by everyone of those divine interpreters, the Fathers and Doctors of the Church." Wherefore the Roman Pontiffs, Pius IV and Pius IX, ordered the insertion in the profession of faith of the following declaration: "I most firmly admit and embrace the apostolic and ecclesiastical traditions and other observances and constitutions of the Church." (emphasis added)

St. Pius X, ora pro nobis!

* As one Vatican II theological expert wrote, "We shall have occasion later to show in more detail how the anti-modernistic neurosis which had again and again crippled the Church since the turn of the century here seems to be approaching a cure."  In other words, V-II was the "cure" to St. Pius X's crippling "anti-modernistic neurosis."

I just did a search for a Latin Mass on your website at zip code 32935 and NONE was returned.

I wish to inform you that Holy Family INDEPENDENT Traditional Catholic Church in Melbourne, Florida has offered Catholics the Traditional Latin Mass and sacraments uninterruptedly since 1994. In 1998, Father Arnaud Devilliers met with us and agreed to provide us with priests and the Mass and Sacraments in exchange for a lease of $1 a year to rent our chapel. When he went to get the indult from Bishop Robert Dorsey, he was welcomed warmly but thereafter was stonewalled. The bishop refused to answer his letters or take his phone calls. The bishops of the Diocese of Orlando have ignored countless petitions, letters and requests for 30 years. We have been left to fend for ourselves. Please provide me with an e-mail address where I can send you a history of our chapel. We have ALWAYS upheld the pope when our bishops have ignored him and his instructions to bishops to make TLM available to Catholics on a wide and generous basis. We have always had properly ordained Catholic priests officiate at our Masses. We are surviving in the catacombs. 300 Catholics attend Mass every week at Holy Family in Melbourne, Florida where there is daily Mass every morning and 2 Sunday Masses. Our Masses are better attended than the Mass in St. Agnes in Manhattan. I know. I've been there.
