Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos
said the following:
parishes and priests should make available the Extraordinary Form so that “everyone may have access to this treasure of the ancient liturgy of the Church.” He also stressed that, “even if it is not specifically asked for, or requested” it should be provided. Interestingly, he added that the Pope wants this Mass to become normal in parishes, so that “young communities can also become familiar with this rite.”
This is really a stunning development. According to Summorum Pontificum, the Traditional Latin Mass was to be made available to the Faithful who requested it. Now Cardinal Hoyos is saying that the Traditional Latin Mass should be made available to
EVERYONE!
As an acknowledgement of the Traditonal Latin Mass to the life of the Church and to the spiritual life of the average Catholic, this is very significant.
I know I've said it before but I'll say it again, "we live in an exciting time". A time of real renewal, re-trenchment and rediscovery of the vital, essential Tradition.
May we live to see its fruit: real solid, proliferate vocations, the creation of a culture that is Catholic and unapologetic, authentic Catholic education, and Catholic families that transmit the Faith, promote the Truth and raise up more members to the Church Militant.
May God will it thus.
