Mark, have you ever been to the Sistine Chapel? Whoa! I got itchy and wanted to leave. Artists back then were flamboyant, no?
Have you been to the Paul VI Hall, the post-Christian theatre next to St. Peter's? There's that hideous seaweed or mermaid thing behind the stage, supposedly the risen Lord? I'll take the old art.
Since the Sistine Chapel was painted 500 years ago, I'm wondering if you mean that you prefer icons? I find nothing effeminate in the figures in the Sistine Chapel, and I reject the notion that Michelangelo was "flamboyant".
Despite the image of Our Lord looking a little fem. I like the idea of seeing His whole body instead of just His feet as some artists show Him. Also, like the addition of the saints waiting to rise with Him. Who is the artist? (I'm art challenged)
Mark may have been referring to Our Lord's posture, not apparel. I think artists used this to distinguish royalty, but I may be wrong. It's only today we see that and think of queens instead of kings!

Is it just me, or does it disturb anyone else when OUR LORD is artistically portrayed as a frompy effeminate?

I should have been more clear. I don't think the Vatican porn gallery is effeminate.
Let me rephrase that: the Vatican galerie au naturel.

Sorry, there wasn't an image available of Jim Cavaziel ascending into heaven.
Everyone's a critic! LOL
