Dr. Byrne is a clinical professor of Pediatrics at the University of Toledo Medical College in Toledo, Ohio, as well as the director of Pediatrics and Neonatalogy at St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Oregon, Ohio. A graduate of Xavier University and St. Louis University School of Medicine, he is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal- Perinatal Medicine. Dr. Byrne is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Medical Association, and also served as president of the Catholic Medical Association from 1997-1998. He has presented testimony on life issues to eight state legislatures since 1967, in addition to authoring many articles on "brain death", organ transplantation, euthanasia and abortion in medical journals, law literature and lay press. He is the author and producer of the film Continuum of Life, and was an invited presenter to the Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Sciences in 2005. He and his late wife Shirley have 12 children and 28 grand children.
I heard Dr. Byrne speak in Massachusetts. My only regrets are that there is only one of him, and that he's elderly and can't keep fighting much longer. His message is so compelling, and chilling, that it needs to be shouted from the housetops by dozens of physicians for many years to come. We've been sold a lie for the last 30 years and it will take some time and work to undo it.
For example, did you know that, in the process of retrieving a heart, the "donor" must be anesthetized so he will stay still? Oh, but he's dead, right???
I hope you get a chance to see Dr. Byrne.
It's shocking when you objectively look at the state of our society. We approve of removing hearts and other organs from living persons. We support torturing of suspects in the name of the "War on Terror". The courts have told us we must allow men to marry men and women to marry women, and most of society thinks this is good.
If someone wrote about today's society 40 years ago it would have been considered a horror story and something that could only happen in fiction (or the Soviet Union).
If you can get to Dr. Byrne's talk on LI, go. I also recommend it.
I have never agreed to something more. And I need help.
My child and I were in a serious car accident three weeks ago. I am in a litigation battle and have only until this Tuesday to find a hospital to accept my son.
He had been pronounced" brain dead" the day before we were going to transport him to a children's hospital for rehab to be weaned from the vent. On this day the MD against my will gave my son this examination and not only hurt my son, but gave him the death sentence.
If you know of any hospital or alternative please help
I need to save my son's life, and this has now become the most important thing in my life, I know I will continue Dr Byrne's battle.
