I wish I had a job like Cardinal Tauran's. Forming international commissions, attending meetings around the world, and having no objective criterion of accomplishment is my calling. But more on that below.
A threat looms on the horizon, though. Those recalcitrant Vatican-II deniers, the SSPX, are back. If they get their way, the façade might crumble. They must conform, as we've heard from Phil Lawler and Jeffrey Mirus. Progress in interreligious dialogue, and more, is in danger.
We just received a report on the progress of interreligious dialogue with Muslims. A "Joint Committee for Dialogue" has been meeting for eleven years now, and it's amazing what they've accomplished. In the final declaration signed by Cardinal Tauran, this Committee has agreed on eight statements. Here are three of them:
1. Peace and security are much needed in our present world marked by many conflicts and a feeling of insecurity.
3. Religious leaders, especially Muslims and Christians, have the duty to promote a culture of peace, each within his respective community, especially through teaching and preaching.
8. Mindful of the suffering endured by the peoples of the Middle East due to non-resolved conflicts, the participants, in respect of the competence of the political leaders, ask to make use, through dialogue, of the resources of international law to solve the problems at stake in truth and justice.
That's the fruit of eleven years of dialogue: eight statements, not one of which mentions the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Imagine where they'll be in another eleven years. Cardinal Tauran, however, thinks he's accomplished something great, and laments that the talks "still don't have an impact on the Muslim masses." With all due respect, Eminence, get real!
The postconciliar delusion marches on, but we're assured by the Lawlers and Miruses of the press that the problem is with the SSPX. Pray the Rosary every day!

Neo-Catholicism is "at the end of its rope"
Good riddance!
That's a great line! Those recalcitrant Vatican-II deniers, the SSPX, are back. I love it. It's tragic that catholics have been so deceived into thinking that the modern church (pastoral VII council) cancels out what was taught in the past. How long will it take for them to realize that they are slowly being boiled into eternal death if they don't take the time to understand that it is tradition that we must follow. We can't say Jesus didn't warn us about the wolves in sheep's clothing. Let us pray for the Pope because he inherited a hornets nest and it is only by revealing the full 3rd secret and correctly doing the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary that will bring us a period of peace. www.fatima.org
Maybe I'm wrong, but I believe the Holy Father has built part of the hornet's nest. He protects it unintentionally, too. Remember, on August 19, 2005, in Cologne, Germany, he told non-Catholics that they didn't need to "deny their faith histories." To me, that comment sounds like a vague way assure them that they don't need to become Catholics. In his article called "Vatican II vs. the Unity Willed by Christ," John Vennari quotes from Ratzinger's 1966 book "Theological Highlights of Vatican II," where the now Holy Father writes that convergence needs to replace conversion and that conversion is an option for those whose consciences motivate them to convert to Catholicism. I've always thought that, objectively, non-Catholics were, and are still, duty-bound to become Catholics.

What's the latest in the seminaries, do they still hire rabbinical and protestant staff? do they still make the seminarians date?
Oh Joan! The seminaries are fine. They just got a clean bill of health:

JOHN
"Keep the Faith" has a tape of a Croation priest who documented American seminaries which were considered "Pink" or homosexual dominated together with confessions of seminarians that were raped in their seminaries. Interesting. And I would be surprised to find a seminary that didn't have non-catholic professors or that didn't present and teach theology and philosophy that was non or anti-catholic. Other than traditional seminaries like the SSPX in Winona, Minn., is there a "Catholic" seminary left in the USA?
Yes, I too wonder when some of the Vatican Cardinals will "get real" and wise up to the fact that dialogue is just a word used to cover for missionary lethargy.
I often wonder what kind of mental-space these feel-good, ecumenical spiritual leaders inhabit?
Don't they "get" the commandment of Our Lord to "go and convert the nations"?
