The SSPX Ordains 13 Men on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Despite the media hubbub, such as Reuters Vatican warns traditionalists not to ordain priests—total nonsense, by the way—the Society of St. Pius X continued to grow today. Thirteen men were ordained to the priesthood at St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Winona, Minn.

It is so funny how the media cannot stand it. The AP has to say Breakaway Catholic group ordains 13 in Minnesota, and runs a quote from the diocese, "the Roman Catholic Diocese of Winona says none of the men ordained Friday will be eligible to serve as priests in southeastern Minnesota or any other Roman Catholic diocese." Since when does Reuters or the AP give a whit what the Catholic Church thinks?

Please pray for these new priests. This opens a new horizon for the Society, given the lifting of the bishops' excommunications earlier this year. Pope Benedict has had ample opportunity to intervene, but has chosen not to do so, thus allowing his pardon to foster life in the Society.

P.S. The Remnant has an article here.

Yes, an ordination is a wonderful event in the Church, to be savoured and celebrated by all! There 13 men - 11 SSPX, 2 Benedictines and 1 Dominican, who are even at this moment, exercising their priesthood for the Faithful. There are pictures on the DICI.org website also. Everyone looks so happy!! A great day for the Catholic Church! In this year of the priests, we should pray most fervently for all priests as they spread the one true Catholic Faith, without which there is no salvation, to God's now suffering world.

Woops! Not being a mathatician, my last posting has a glaring error: Priests ordained were 10 SSPX, 2 Benedictines and 1 Dominican, adding to 13 in number. I will have to do my addition tables over again!

Good question - a "mathatician" is a busy pro-life doctor who types too fast, doesn't know how to add, and has quick fingers and a sticky "m" on her keyboard!
