VATICAN CITY, 12 MAY 2009 (VIS) - According to a decree made public today and signed by Cardinal James Francis Stafford and Bishop Gianfranco Girotti, O.F.M. Conv., respectively penitentiary major and regent of the Apostolic Penitentiary, Benedict XVI will grant priests and faithful Plenary Indulgence for the occasion of the Year for Priests, which is due to run from 19 June 2009 to 19 June 2010 and has been called in honour of St. Jean Marie Vianney.
The period will begin with the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, "a day of priestly sanctification", says the text, when the Pope will celebrate Vespers before the relics of the saint, brought to Rome for the occasion by the bishop of the French diocese of Belley-Ars. The Year will end in St. Peter's Square, in the presence of priests from all over the world "who will renew their faithfulness to Christ and their bonds of fraternity".
The means to obtain the Plenary Indulgence are as follows:
(A) All truly penitent priests who, on any day, devotedly pray Lauds or Vespers before the Blessed Sacrament exposed to public adoration or in the tabernacle, and ... offer themselves with a ready and generous heart for the celebration of the Sacraments, especially the Sacrament of Penance, will be granted Plenary Indulgence, which they can also apply to their deceased confreres, if in accordance with current norms they take Sacramental Confession and the Eucharist and pray in accordance with the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff. Priests are furthermore granted Partial Indulgence, also applicable to deceased confreres, every time they devotedly recite the prayers duly approved to lead a saintly life and to carry out the duties entrusted to them.
(B) All truly penitent Christian faithful who, in church or oratory, devotedly attend Holy Mass and offer prayers to Jesus Christ, supreme and eternal Priest, for the priests of the Church, or perform any good work to sanctify and mould them to His Heart, are granted Plenary Indulgence, on the condition that they have expiated their sins through Sacramental Confession and prayed in accordance with the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff. This may be done on the opening and closing days of the Year of Priests, on the 150th anniversary of the death of St. Jean Marie Vianney, on the first Thursday of the month, or on any other day established by the ordinaries of particular places for the good of the faithful.
The elderly, the sick and all those who for any legitimate reason are unable to leave their homes, may still obtain Plenary Indulgence if, with the soul completely removed from attachment to any form of sin and with the intention of observing, as soon as they can, the usual three conditions, "on the days concerned, they pray for the sanctification of priests and offer their sickness and suffering to God through Mary, Queen of the Apostles".
Partial Indulgence is offered to all faithful each time they pray five Our Father, Ave Maria and Gloria Patri, or any other duly approved prayer "in honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, to ask that priests maintain purity and sanctity of life".

St. Francis de Sales Church 100 Years’ Anniversary with St. Louis Symphony Orchestra
On November 23rd an architectural gem reminiscent of the great cathedrals in Europe, one of the most beautiful churches in St. Louis—St. Francis de Sales Oratory—celebrates its 100th anniversary. At one time this church boasted 7,000 families. In 2005 the Archbishop of St. Louis, His Grace, the Most Rev. Raymond L. Burke, erected the church and its campus as an oratory of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. This young and growing community was founded in 1990 by two French priests and has today many apostolates all over the globe, fourteen in the US. The Institute administers all sacraments according to the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite.
To mark this centenary the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest has scheduled a Pontifical High Mass with the Most Reverend Robert Hermann, Archdiocesan Administrator, as celebrant. The Mass on Sunday, November 23rd, beginning at 10:00 a.m., will feature music to match the beauty of the church’s interior: Charles Gounod’s St. Cecilia Mass performed by the Oratory choirs and members of St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Mr. Nick Botkins, the Oratory’s Director of Sacred Music and Master of the Choirs.

Significant renovation will be necessary before doors can be opened, including a new roof, renovating the sanctuary and making the nave of the church larger. However it is hoped that the new church will be opened in the near future. Juridically, the building will be erected as a chapel, and at a future date it will be raised to the status of a parish. There will be an open house this coming Saturday afternoon (September 27th, 2008). All are welcome, bring friends!

The Tridentine Latin Mass is now scheduled for 12:00 Noon every
Sunday at St. Sylvia's Church, Tivoli, NY. The Celebrant is Msgr.
Joachim J. Olendzki.
He has recently been assigned to St. Sylvia's, and, together with Fr.
Thomas Curley, Pastor of St. Christopher' s, Red Hook, they are trying
to restore tradition and reverence in all the Masses in the two
churches.
The Tridentine Noon Mass at St. Sylvia's has only been said twice so
far; the first time (7/20), I was the only person there besides the
Celebrant.
Last Sunday (7/27), there were 7 people there including me. I am
hoping to increase support for this fledgling TLM so we don't lose
it. Please come if you can.

We are in the process of starting a Latin prayer group in the Trenton, New Jersey, area, as the Holy Father exhorted the laity to learn the Church's prayers in Latin. We will most likely be meeting at the Emmaus House, which is the home of the Rider University Catholic ministry in Lawrenceville. If you know of anyone who is interested in attending or contributing suggestions, kindly give them my contact information.
His Excellency, Salvatore Matano, Bishop of Burlington, will celebrate the extaordinary form of the Mass on the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary at 7 PM at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Burlington, VT.

Una Voce Quad Cities takes great pleasure in making the following
announcement:
Beginning August 3, 2008, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered
in the extraordinary form (Missa Cantata) every Sunday at 4pm at St.
Anthony's Church in Davenport, Iowa. Fr. Scott Lemaster, Fr. David
Brownfield, and Fr. Tim Regan will alternate in offering the Mass. For
parish information see http://www.stanthonysdavenport.4lpi.com.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Bishop Martin Amos and his director of
liturgy, Deacon Frank Agnoli, who administered a diocese-wide survey of
interest in the Traditional Latin Mass and then encouraged six diocesan
priests to seek training in the extraordinary form. We are also deeply
grateful to these priests (three of whom will be offering the
Traditional Mass at St. Wenceslaus in Iowa City, also beginning August
3rd, at 1:30pm) for sacrificing their time and energy to offer us the
ancient form of Mass, and to the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius in
Chicago who offered the (by all accounts superb) training program they
attended in May.
Deo Gratias!
I am delighted to remind everyone that the Mass in "the extraordinary form", a solemn high Missa Cantata, will be celebrated by Rev. The Pastor of Our Lady of Grace Church in Greensboro North Carolina has posted a survey on the Parish website to see how many people would like to see the Tridentine Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church.
It is a magnificent and holy edifice that has been divinely spared the "wreckovations" of liturgical deformations.
It still retains a beautiful white marble high altar and white marble communion railings.
This church is perfectly suited for the Tridentine Mass.
Please give your assent to the Mass on the survey.

Thank you for all of the holy work you do here and God bless you.

New service will begin at 8 a.m. on March 8
By GINA KINSLOW
Glasgow Daily Times
GLASGOW, KY — St. Helen Catholic Church will begin offering a traditional Latin Mass in March.
The service will be on Saturdays at 8 a.m. beginning March 8.
The availability of the Mass is not only something the church’s congregation has requested, but Pope Benedict XVI has asked parishes worldwide that the Latin Rite be made available to the Catholic faithful, according to Father Shannon Collins, associate pastor of the church.
The Pope made the request on July 7, 2007.
The Traditional Latin Mass or Tridentine Mass was used in the Catholic Church for almost 1,600 years, until the introduction of the Mass of Pope Paul VI following the Second Vatican Council, according to Latin Mass.org.
“In 1969 or 1970, when the new Mass was introduced, a lot of people thought the old Mass was buried, and it never was,” Collins said.
While the two services share some similarities, there are two major differences.
One difference is the language in which the service is delivered.
“Latin was the dominant language for the entire hist-ory of the church,” Collins said, but was used less and less over the years. “Latin can still be used, always has been, (and) always will be.”
The other difference is the direction in which the priest delivers the service.
“The priest in the new Mass is largely facing the congregation as he prays, whereas in the old Mass, he is facing with the people toward God,” Collins said. “It kind of reaches out to Christians to show that we appreciate the ancient things which our fathers left to us.”
While the service is new to St. Helen’s, it has been made available at Our Lady of the Caves Catholic Church in Horse Cave for the past six to seven months.
For more information about the service, call the church’s rectory at (270) 651-5263.
Modern man has a positive image of himself that has been shaped and very effectively propagandized since the time of the Renaissance. The Roman Forum’s Modern Image and Catholic Truth series explores the gap between this image and the true predicament in which both the individual and contemporary society as a whole now find themselves imprisoned.
This year’s series began in November with a conference called The Sleep of Reason, designed to underline the fact that modern naturalism ends with the destruction of the rational in man, achieved in a variety of different ways depending upon the particular approaches of the thinkers and activists concerned.
The Glass of Absinthe and The Rules of the Game were originally intended to be two separate conferences---the first focusing on the destructive aspects of the naturalist separation of the individual from society and his own past; the second on the intellectual, artistic, psychological and socio-political obstacles placed in the path of identification of the disease that afflicts us. These have now been combined into one session--- the last Roman Forum event in the United States in the 2007-2008 academic year.

On Rome's Birthday (April 21, 753 B.C.) and the Parilia
According to tradition, Romulus took up his trusty plow and marked out a sulcus around "Shepherds' Hill" on the twelfth day before the Kalends of May, i.e., a.d. XII Kal. Mai-a date which, give or take eleven or twelve days, roughly corresponds to what we call April 21st. Conveniently, the date was also the festival of the shepherd goddess Pales (the Parilia), in whose honor the hill, chosen by Romulus, had been named the Palatine.
When the festival was adopted by city dwellers, the date was set to coincide with the date of the traditional founding of Rome. Each area of Rome set up festivities, much like a block party. Bonfires were set onto which offerings were thrown. The event concluded with a bountiful feast set up out of doors. Catholics, for obvious reason, can also commemorate the day due to Rome’s Christian meaning.
Two songs will be sung at the 10:00 P.M. festivities: The papal hymn, Roma Immortale, and Rome’s Birthday Song, the latter to the tune of Oklahoma, with lyrics by Judy Hallet. See the back of this announcement for the words.

Catholic
entertainment group announces Talent Search and Spring Auditions.
Saint Cecilia Classical Productions Inc. is a new pro-life, pro-family, music-based, Catholic apologetics apostolate. Our basic purpose is to provide orthodox Catholic entertainers who can be good role models for today’s young people, and, at the same time, impart the truths of the faith to them.
To do this we need Catholic young women who wish to use their musical talents and knowledge of the faith in the service of our Lord. We are searching for young ladies who can be true role models: models of our heavenly Mother Mary, who will, through the medium of quality music and their own good example, promote the virtues of true womanhood and authentic Catholic family life to today’s young people.
We are currently conducting a nationwide talent search (US & Canada) for traditional Catholic young ladies of exceptional musical ability in the area of classical voice (soprano ranges). Additional abilities in the areas of piano and or violin would be very helpful.
High school or college age young ladies, or recent college graduates, especially those with degrees in music, are encouraged to apply. Home-schooled individuals are most welcome.
Additionally, successful candidates will also possess the following qualities:
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills; a pleasant outgoing personality with the ability to relate well to both young people and adults; an attractive and well-groomed appearance.
Have an excellent knowledge of the traditional Catholic faith; be faithful to Holy Father and the Magisterium of the Church and have a strong devotion to the B.V.M. and the Rosary.
Should come from a traditional Latin Mass background or have a good understanding and appreciation of the values associated with the Tridentine Mass.
Although not a requirement, fluency in Italian would be very desirable. A good knowledge of Latin would also be a definite plus.
Auditions are planned for early March and late May. Interested young ladies may mail or e-mail (preferred) their resume with repertoire to:

Sunday 9 AM Holydays as announced Confessions prior to Mass
The Institute of Christ the King, Sovereign Priest, has been invited
by Bishop Edward Braxton of the Belleville Diocese (just across the
river from St. Louis in Illinois) to administer the Traditional Latin
Mass Community at Holy Family Parish Log Church in Cahokia.
Fr.
William Avis, Vicar at St. Francis de Sales Oratory in St. Louis, will
have charge of this apostolate. The new arrangement is effective
immediately.
Great news for the traditional Mass and for the Diocese of Belleville.
The Holy Family Parish Log Church in Cahokia, Illinois is the oldest
continuously sited church in the state of Illinois. The Holy Family
Parish is the second oldest Catholic Parish in the state being
established in May of 1699 when the French priest Father Jean St. Cosme
and two workmen erected a missionary cross, a chapel and a log rectory.
The original log church built by Father St. Cosme was destroyed by a
fire in the 1730's and the subsequent church was also destroyed by fire
in 1783. Only a bell suspended from a tree in the churchyard, a missal
printed in 1683, a monstrance made in 1717, a chalice, and a paten were
saved from the 1783 fire. Pope John Paul II used the chalice in his
Mass when he visited St. Louis in 1999.
Construction on
the present church, with a capacity of over 100 people, was begun
shortly afterward but it was not until 1799 that the Church was
dedicated. The church's construction is typical of the French Creole
architecture of the era. Built in the poteaux-sur-solle (post-on-sill)
manner, a vertical log style that uses hewn walnut logs placed upright
on a horizontal base. The roof timbers are oak, and the roof itself is
made of cypress clapboards covered by sycamore and the church is held
together entirely with wooden pegs instead of nails. In l949, Father
Joseph Mueller "rediscovered" the old log church that had been covered
over with white clapboarding and the Log Church was restored in time
for the parish’s 250th anniversary. An old cemetery that contains the
graves of many of the parish’s priests and the locally prominent Jarrot
family is located behind the church.
I have had friends of mine ask that I circulate a petition to have
the Extraordinary Rite celebrated at St. Joseph's Cathedral in
Manchester, NH. Fr. Joseph is all set to celebrate it. The Bishop needs to
know there is a group out there interested. I put the link below in
case you are interested in posting it. Thank you and May you and Yours
have a Very Blessed Christmas and a Joyous New year. God Bless,
Diane-Marie Peloquin
Currently Our Lady of Guadalupe in Holyoke, MA celebrates a monthly Traditional Latin Mass at 2 PM.
Beginning, February 10, 2008, the first Sunday of Advent, the Traditional Latin Mass will be celebrated every Sunday at 1PM. A Tuesday morning Mass at 8 AM has also been added.
For any questions please call:

If you would like to see the interior liturgy space of Our Lady of Lourdes truely restored to its 1930 layout and would be able to attend a Tridentine Mass if it were held daily at Our Lady of Lourdes, please contact Cyril Koob to be put on the petition either by phone or email.
Can you add to this list of 18 reasons for restoring the liturgical space at Our Lady of Lourdes and holding a daily Tridentine Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Minneapolis?
The one whom can add the most, wins a copy of the Baronius Press Daily Missal 1962; graciously donated by the Minneapolis Tridentine Committee.
1. Availability - Looking at the times the Rectory is open and the mass schedule, a daily 7:30 am Tridentine Mass would work every day at Our Lady of Lourdes with no conflicts. They have no morning masses from Monday - Saturday. The Rectory is open on Saturday and the first mass on Sunday is 9:00 am. 2. Priests - There are priests in nearby parishes that know Latin and are willing to do the Tridentine Mass, some have already done so. 3. Scholarships - there is full scholarships and travel and expense money available for any priest that wants to attend training in order to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass of All Ages at Our Lady of Lourdes. 4. Consolidation - almost ensure, probably guarantee that Our Lady of Lourdes will not get shut down in the likely consolidation of parishes in the near future. 5. Multiple Communities - This would allow 2 communities to thrive in one parish just like at St. Augustines and 6. Double Masses - This would just about double the number of masses at Our Lady of Lourdes, double the size of the community 7. Finances - double the income to the parish and bring in the additional funds urgently needed to finish the restoration. 8. Beautiful Walk from Downtown- An additional plus is that Our Lady of Lourdes is walking distance from downtown Minneapolis and a beautiful walk at that 9. Convention/Conference Guests - for our out of state and international Catholic guests looking for a Tridentine Mass to start there day before the conference or convention they are attending. This why Our Lady of Lourdes is a better choice and location than Holy Cross or St. Anthony of Padua for a daily Tridentine Mass. 10. Downtown Residents and Workers - serve the downtown commuters and residents of downtown that are interested in attending the Tridentine Mass 11. Bilingual - The Tridentine Mass would serve as a bilingual for both the english and spanish speaking communities; as well as any other language based on Latin. 12. Community Anchor - Restoring Our Lady of Lourdes to the 1930 floor plan would enable it to sustain its place as an anchor in the community just like Nye's, Nicollett Island Inn, and many other historic buildings in and around Our Lady of Lourdes. A modern liturgical worship space would not fit the neighborhood. 13. Environmental Factor - 10 people making the 36 mile round trip from Minneapolis area to South Saint Paul equals at least 18,000 miles a year; it is probably much more than this since a Tridentine Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes will save others from other regions an equal amount of mileage and also the fact that there are now some people making this trek everyday to South Saint Paul. 14. Social Justice - there are people that want to attend the Tridentine Mass that cannot afford a vehicle or the transportation to South Saint for the Sunday mass, let alone the daily Tridentine Mass in South Saint Paul. 15. National Historic Register - since this structure is on the National Register this use is entirely appropriant and historically accurate." 16. Genuine Diversity- A diverse offering of masses would show that Our Lady of Lourdes community is truly into diversity. 17. Inclusiveness - snow that Our Lady of Lourdes is a truly inclusive parish, including all traditions of the Church in it's mass offerings.

Latin Immersion Program to be Held at Christendom College this Summer
Have you ever wished that you could speak Latin? understand spoken Latin? read Latin at the same speed you read English?
It
used to be (before the advent of the twentieth century) that all
students going to college had to be able to understand spoken Latin,
speak it well, and write it well, for all teaching and learning was
conducted in Latin. For this reason, Latin was taught for more than a
thousand years so that non-native speakers of Latin could attain native
or near-native fluency. Obviously, anyone attaining such “active”
mastery of Latin would be able to read and understand Latin authors
much better than those who today have only a passive understanding of
Latin.
Beginning
in the summer of 2008, Christendom College will offer a one-week,
intensive, active-Latin immersion course for high school aged students
designed to introduce aspiring Latinists to the beauty and power of the
ancient language of the Church.
All
classes will be conducted wholly in Latin, and students should expect
to make substantial progress in active Latin, even in one week. Cost of
the program, including room and board, is $600.00. Dr. Mark Clark,
Christendom’s Associate Professor of Classical and Early Christian
Studies, and Dr. David Morgan of Furman University, whose Morgan
Lexicon is well known to all those wishing to achieve fluency in Latin,
will be the magistri.
Because
no more than fifteen students can be accepted, those wishing to attend
should register early by contacting Christendom’s Admissions Office at
800.877.5456 or admissions@christendom.edu or by completing the
Application Form found HERE.
Dates of the program will be Sunday to Saturday, June 8-14, 2008
Prior knowledge of Latin is preferred, although not required.
A course entitled "Latin for Mass-goers" will be offered again at historic Ivy Hall in Overbrook, Pennsylvania, by The International Institute for Culture on five successive Monday evenings, beginning January 28, 2008.
This course provides Mass-goers with an introduction to the grammar and
vocabulary of Church Latin and an in-depth explanation of the principal
prayers of the Mass, examining their origins in Tradition and their
significance in conjunction with the liturgical action. (Tuition $175)
The course will be taught by Mr. Michael J. Miller, M.A. Theol., a Catholic translator, writer, and language instructor.
Monday Evenings (Jan 28, Feb. 4, 11, 18, 25); 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with break.

May the peace of Christ be with you this Advent and Christmas,
BOSTON – December 18 - Known as the Christmas Parish because its
German immigrant founders introduced many Christmas customs to New
England and the country during the mid-1800s, Holy Trinity Church in
Boston's South End announces its schedule of Christmas services for
2007.
The 2007 Christmas Mass schedule at Holy Trinity, located at 140
Shawmut Avenue, Boston, MA is:
Christmas Eve
11:30 PM: Concert of traditional German and English Christmas carols.
Midnight: Traditional Latin High Mass; begins with candlelight
procession in which the celebrant lays the Infant Jesus in the crèche.
Christmas Day
10:00 AM: Mass in English and German. (Carol concert precedes Mass
at 9:45 AM.)
The following concert is also scheduled.
Sunday, 6 January 2008, 3:00 PM: Three Kings Concert.
The concert will feature Preces Cantate, a mixed chorus which
specializes in Renaissance polyphonic music and which was based at
Holy Trinity for more than a decade. The program will tell the
Christmas story in song, from the Old Testament prophecies concerning
Jesus to the adoration of the three kings at the manger. A reception
will follow this free concert.
More information about the Masses and concert may be found at Holy
Trinity's web site, www.holytrinitygerman.org
Parishioners of the "Christmas parish" are facing, for the fourth
time, their potential "last" Christmas. Since Holy Trinity was
originally scheduled for closure in May 2004 as part of the
Reconfiguration Plan of the Archdiocese of Boston, two announced
closure dates, 30 June 2005 and 15 December 2005, have come and
gone. Although, in anticipation of the closure, the Traditional
Latin Mass was moved on 22 April 2007 from Holy Trinity to Mary
Immaculate of Lourdes Parish in Newton Upper Falls, no date for the
closure of Holy Trinity has been set. According to the most recent
plan, announced in November 2006, Holy Trinity is to merge with the
nearby Cathedral of the Holy Cross.
Although the weekly Traditional Latin Mass continues to be held in
Newton, Holy Trinity has offered two such Masses on feast days since
new papal legislation took effect in September. According to the
document Summorum Pontificum, the Traditional Latin Mass may now be
offered in any parish in which parishioners request it, not just in
one parish where the bishop has given special permission for it.
Parishioners are grateful that the new norms have given them the
opportunity to attend Midnight Mass just as their forbears did in
1877, when the current church building opened.
Founded in 1844 to meet the pastoral needs of German worshippers,
Holy Trinity Church is the Archdiocese's oldest ethnic parish. For
163 years it has cherished and preserved German Catholic traditions
both for new immigrants and for their descendants. It is the only
German Catholic parish in New England's eleven Catholic dioceses.
From 1990 to 2007 it offered a parish home to what was then the
Archdiocese's only authorized traditional Latin Mass. The parish has
also demonstrated its commitment to ongoing Christian charity by
willingly sharing its facilities with two social service agencies:
the Cardinal Medeiros Center day shelter for the homeless and the
Bridge Over Troubled Waters residence for at-risk youth.
From Peter Cooper, Business Manager of Holy Trinity Church, Boston, MA:
This morning Fr. Connolly announced (to the throngs in attendance at
the 10 o'clock Mass) that after his consultations with His Eminence, Cardinal O'Malley, he (Fr.
Connolly) has decided that the Tridentine Latin Mass will again be celebrated
weekly at Holy Trinity. He mentioned that it remains for us to work out a
schedule of clergy to enable us to have the priests necessary to ensure proper
coverage. There also will be careful consideration as to the time the Mass will
be celebrated. The possibility of having the Latin Mass take place
before the Novus Ordo one is under active consideration.
Sometime after the first of the year, Father Bill Hodgson will start
offering the Traditional Latin Mass at his parish, St. Ann's Church, in
Carthage , Missouri .
Anyone interested may get in touch with Rita and Charles Crowell (417-438-1508) who are collecting
names of people interested in regular attendance at
St. Ann
Fr. John Berg, FSSP will be the guest on "The World Over
Live" this Friday, December 14th at 8:00pm EST (reruns Saturday 1am,
Sunday 4pm, Monday at 10am and 11pm). Discussions will be about the TLM, the Motu Proprio and the FSSP training workshops.
The San Diego Traditional Latin Mass Society will sponsor a 1-hour
instructional presentation on the structure of the Traditional Latin
Mass and use of the Daily Missal. The presentation will take place at Holy Cross Chapel, 4470 Hilltop Drive, San Diego, CA, on Sunday, November 25, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., following the 9:00 a.m. High Mass. will fulfill the holy day obligation.
On this patronal feast of the

Vatican, Oct. 12, 2007 (CWNews.com) - The Ecclesia Dei commission is preparing a new document on the application of the motu proprio allowing wider use of the traditional Latin Mass, according to a report on the Italian Petrus web site.
Msgr. Camille Perl, the secretary of the Ecclesia Dei commission, told Petrus that the office is preparing a document on "the proper interpretation of Summorum Pontificum" The document will provide authoritative guidance on questions that have been raised frequently about the papal directive, such as how many parishioners would constitute a group sufficient to call for the use of the older liturgy.
The Vatican official acknowledged that the Ecclesia Dei commission is preparing the new document as a response to widespread limitations on the use of the 1962 Roman Missal. Msgr. Perl expressed some impatience with bishops who have set conditions that go beyond the framework of Summorum Pontificum, complaining that a "sense of obedience and respect for authority has been lost." The Ecclesia Dei commission was created in 1988 to coordinate pastoral programs aimed at traditionalist Catholics. Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news) has given the commission jurisdiction over the implementation of his motu proprio.
[Emphasis mine] It is heartening to see the Vatican responding so quickly to reports that the Motu Proprio is not being implemented in every Diocese. For anyone who wondered I think we can see that the Holy Father said what he meant and meant what he said.

" Davis Chapel is on the Wake Forest University Campus in Winston-Salem. Davis Chapel is located in the building that houses the big Wait Chapel, the building with the tall steeple. DO NOT GO INTO THE LARGE ROOM OF WAIT CHAPEL PROPER! The Davis Chapel is in this building, but Davis Chapel's entrance is NOT on the campus quadrangle but instead it is right on the road that circles around the campus, through the entrance on the left of the building. If you think you'll have problems finding Davis Chapel, allow yourself time and plan on arriving early. Wake's Forest University website: http://www.wfu.edu/. Information desk 336-758-5255. I'll most likely will be at the chapel by 6pm. I'll be turning my cell off at 6:45pm". (see phone number above)
Latin Mass Group of Vermont
(Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington)
In all things we strive to glorify God, sanctify souls, and to serve Him in this world and to be happy with Him forever in the next.
Some communicants travel from southern Vermont to Troy, New York, to assist at Mass at St. Peter’s. These parishioners are interested in learning of others in southwestern Vermont with a similar attachment to the Tridentine Rite.
Perhaps there are yet other residents of southern Vermont interested in learning more about the Tridentine Rite (the Traditional Latin Mass) but would prefer to do so in an informal setting. We are interested to know who you are.
An additional objective is to explore the formation of an association/apostolate. The ultimate goal of this association/apostolate would be to have the Mass of the Tridentine Rite (the extraordinary form) to be offered on a regular basis in a parish domiciled in southwestern Vermont.
Beginning Saturday, October 6, 2007, Fr. Philip LaMothe will say the Traditional Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help at 4:00 PM in Bradford, Vermont. The Traditional Mass will also be said on October 13, 20, and 27th.
The address for the parish is 113 Upper Plain, Bradford, VT 05033 and you can reach the parish rectory at 802-222-5268.
I am pleased to inform you that beginning September 16th, 2007, Father C. Tim Meares will celebrate a weekly Traditional Latin Mass at St. Joseph Church in Burgaw, NC, near Wilmington, on Sundays at 4:30PM.
